How to calm down fast when the news makes your blood boil

You're gonna wanna save this post.

Forgive the extra intrusion into you inbox, feed, or wherever you found this, but I’m guessing you need it. I know I did.

I just watched a news clip that simultaneously made my blood go cold and boil, which you wouldn't think was possible.

And yet here we are.

I wanted to share a quick grounding technique that I use sometimes.

Here's how it goes:

You're going to very lightly trace from your wrist out to each of your fingers.

As you go out to the end of each finger, you're going to inhale.

When you come back down to your wrist, you're going to exhale.

[watch the video for a demonstration]

Whenever I use this technique, I instantly feel a lot calmer.

I feel a lot more grounded.

I feel ready to actually do something that might be productive rather than screaming at the wind or into a pillow.

Not that those aren't productive, because again, those would also be things that would perhaps help calm my nervous system, help get out whatever frustration, whatever feelings I'm feeling in my body.

Please save this video if you need it again at any point, which hey, maybe you will over the next four years. I'm not sure. 😬

I see you. I love you. We're going to get through this. ❤️

If you know someone else who’s feeling overwhelmed by the new, please share this post with them!
